We decided long before Charlotte and when we were first pregnant with Moira, that we would make our baby food. Granted I have some jars of food, but sometimes when I have given it to Charlotte, she just poo poos it. She would much rather have the food I have made for her. :) Uh oh! Do we already have a foodie on our hands? I started with the basics and made squash, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, applesauce, pear sauce, mashed banana, etc. I have now branched into making my own oatmeal for her, grinding the oats in the food processor, cooking it, and then adding some fruit and cinnamon to it. She LOVES it!! :) I try to use mostly organic food when I make things for her. I know it's more expensive, but it makes me feel good knowing she is getting food with no pesticides, etc. While we were in Michigan, my mom made a turkey and dumplings. We decided to throw that in the food processor and give it to Charlotte for her lunch the next day. She loved it!! So tonight I am making a yummy meal of chicken, sweet potato, and apple. Yummy! I get most of my recipes from Wholesome Baby Food and we have now started using the book Top 100 Baby Purees. It makes me feel good knowing I am giving my daughter fresh food that I would eat! She has loved everything we have given her.
I'll post some pictures of the chicken, sweet potato, and apple puree later when I am done making it! :)
